“The British pound against the US dollar by 4.00%”理解为USD/GBP升值4%。

"against"可以理解为“对”。

“The British pound against the US dollar，就可以理解为英镑对美元升值了多少。

也就是说，against后面的货币是标价货币，against前面的货币是基础货币。

因此是USD/GBP。

求解的时候是要求基础货币的升值幅度。

同学也可以看C选项，The euro against the US dollar对应的是表格里的USD/EUR，同样符合这个规律。
